History

The existence of the parish church in Calvera is confirmed by an ancient document that certifies the presence of a priest to the diocesan synod of 1526 and the current of San Gaetano of the chapel bell, cast in 1618 , belonging to the ancient bell tower.Calvera , in March of 1885 , was overwhelmed by a huge landslide , as told by the steward cared era don Domenico Calabrese . The cataclysm occurred during the morning so did not cause deaths but collapsed several houses together with the Mother Church of which remained only the walls and the old belfry .Since that time the chapel of St. Gaetano was worked to the liturgical celebrations until the 60's when it was inaugurated the new mother church was demolished in 1992 .
